Shasta Nelson, a relationship expert, and author of the book The Business of Friendship: Making the Most of Our Relationships Where We Spend Most of Our Time, is going to help us by making sure we all feel connected to ourselves and each other in meaningful ways. Shasta Nelson is a leading voice on loneliness and creating healthy relationships. Whether she’s speaking at conferences or on TEDx stages, giving media interviews to outlets such as The New York Times and The Washington Post, or appearing as a guest on The Harvard Business Review podcast or The Steve Harvey Show, she is constantly teaching all of us how to create healthier and more fulfilling relationships in our lives. Her research and wisdom can also be found in her 3 books: Friendships Don’t Just Happen! teaches us how to make new friends as adults. Frientimacy: How to Deepen Friendships for Lifelong Health and Happiness teaches us how to make our relationships more meaningful and healthy. You will have the opportunity to experience Sonoma through a different lens on Tuesday, August 30 with a unique and memorable activity.
Our wine country tour will start in Sonoma’s town square. You will ride on board three-wheeled electric Pushpak vehicles (2-3 per vehicle) through Sonoma’s wine country. Your tour includes: historical stops and information about Sonoma, a visit to a local winery, and a wine and cheese tasting.

Charlie’s Acres’ founder Tracy Vogt has been an animal lover her whole life. She grew up volunteering at local animal shelters and rescuing dogs and cats, including a very special chihuahua, for whom the sanctuary is named. Originally from an agricultural community, Tracy was introduced to farmed animals at an early age. Over time, she realized how underrepresented they are, even in the rescue world. Tracy sought to create a place where she could not only provide a second chance and a forever home for animals who may have ended up on the dinner plate, but also a place where people could meet these incredible animals, hear their stories, and make a connection with them.
The Vogt family was able to purchase and donate the property in 2016, as well as initial construction and operating costs to start this sanctuary. Charlie’s Acres is a 501c3 non-profit and relies on donations from the public in order to sustain this sanctuary into the future.
At Charlie’s Acres, we rescue farm animals who were abused or destined for the dinner table. We strive to teach people about the beauty and intelligence of these animals and how to leave them off your plate.
